TGIF!  How’s this for Friday?  I moved into a new classroom today.  True story.  My ‘staches were split among my amazing Kindergarten and 1st grade teammates so I could make the move.  We had 20 volunteers helping and they were amazing.  So, why the move?  My new room is much bigger and fits my teaching style much better.  AND sometime in the next month I will be getting a Promethean board!  YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

So, here’s how this went down!

Do you notice the mustache accents?  Yeah…I’ve known for months that those were coming.  I’ve been dying to share with you.  I’ve had some of the products for months!  Stay tuned for a blog post next week all about the ‘stache.
Let me just say….I was on my feet from 6:30 this morning until 5:15 tonight.  OMG.  Ex-hausted.  I did not sit down.  I’m so excited for the ‘staches to bust into the new room on Monday!

Happy Friday!!!  I enjoyed my two days back with my little ‘staches.  Isn’t it funny how we all talk about wanting a break and then we talk about about wanting to get back to the kids?!  Those little geniuses just make me smile!
This week’s Five For Friday has a mustache theme.  Big surprise!
Can I just say how much I love my stache sweater that the mister got me for Christmas?!  And yes, the glasses have tape on them!  I also love the green pants he got me for Christmas.  And yes, I’m wearing mustache socks!

My chair has suddenly become the most popular place in the classroom to read!  I love seeing them sitting together and sharing books!!!  And yes, that’s a mustache carpet in our classroom!

Epic.  Who doesn’t love a bouncy ball?   How about making your own bouncy ball!?  That’s how we roll at the kindergarten smorgasboard.  No 25 cent bouncy ball is gonna cut it.  We make our own!  Check out the blog tomorrow for more on this amazing science experiment!

This was the center of choice today.  Everyone wanted it.  Everyone loved it.  What’s the secret?  Read on for my latest education theory…

This is my new and profound educational theory.  I’ve found that recently, when I’ve added mustaches to our centers, we are 1,985% more engaged (totally scientific numbers there too…research and all…) because, well, honestly, who doesn’t love a good mustache?!  Seriously.  I’m gonna add mustaches to all centers from now.  We’ll see those test scores skyrocket!
I do have to give a huge shout out to my friend Susanna at Whimsy Workshop because she takes such good care of me and my requests for mustache clip art!  She also created custom and exclusive (I feel so special…) borders and frames for me to use in for my PowerPoint presentations at the National I Teach K Conference in Vegas this summer!  People, they match the colors of the blog exactly.  AMAZING!  Now I’ve gone and talked about Vegas and my hearts racing and I’m sweaty and nervous!
It’s Friday!  That means i’m linking up with my pal Doodlebugs Teaching for the Five For Friday!  Today was supposed to be my last day of break…but we just got word that we are delaying re-opening for 1 day due to cold.  True story.  It’s a “cold day” Tuesday!  So Monday is a day off…Tuesday is a work day and the ‘staches return Wednesday!  Welcome to the south…where you get days off for too cold, too hot, too much rain and a snowflake.  It’s one of the very few perks of southern living!  Now, how bout some pics from my week?
Happy day!  I ordered new custom made bookshelves for our classroom library and they were delivered today!  I am so happy with how it looks!  All of the books fit, they are more accessible for the ‘staches and it’s much prettier.  We have an amazing organization here in Nashville called “Nashville Tools For Schools’ who build furniture for teachers and you just pay for materials.  My shelves were $156 and then they found some extra grant money so they were free!!!!!!  And notice my fancy new window treatment?!  Stay tuned for a blog post on those!  And I do mean fancy…

Who doesn’t need 6 glittery notebooks in 6 different colors!?  What if they’re only $1?!  I have no idea what I’ll be using them for…but I bought them.  Ya know I love me some glitter!  Maybe I’ll make one of them my idea notebook for new creations?!
PS  I am loving the new lens I bought for my camera!  I WILL figure out how to take better pictures with the fancy camera!  I WILL BEAT THE CAMERA!

And more glitter!  How about glitter wrapping paper on the bulletin boards.  It’s glittery.  It sparkles just like me and it matches my room colors!  Now, the border is missing (actually I put the border on today….) BUT I’m involved in a very top secret mission so the border is classified as “Need to know!” and you’ll soon need to know…I’m seriously bursting to share my top secret mission…this box at the world headquarters if just dying to be shared with the world.  It’s coming!

Today I printed my latest center creations!  That’s over 100 pages of activities!  Who wants to help cut?!  Oh wait…I have a helper!
Seriously…how awesome is the mister?!

And finally, here’s to the best year ever from all of us at The Kindergarten Smorgasboard!  Happy New Year!
PS  I’m still trying to figure out my one word for the new year…ambition?  success?  growth?  I dunno…glitter?  sparkle?
What’s your one word?
And the winner of the give away on yesterday’s blog is:  maeberry and jeanieb  check your email!
How about a Friday give away?  I gave this bad boy a major update yesterday…and it’s on sale for $4…and it’s 230 pages of sight word fun.  It was a huge hit in my room last year so I can’t wait to roll out the new and improved version!   Leave a comment with your one word for 2014 (AND EMAIL!) and I’ll pick a winner tomorrow!

My mother is OBSESSED with you – she teaches kindergarten. What's bad is that I'm a blogger and she is NOT obsessed with me! You're adorable and I'm your newest follower.

Wow!! All that done in a day. You are amazing. Congrats on the bigger room. I'm sure it will help carry out all of those creative ideas. You are such an inspiration.

Yahoo! A new space and a promethean board, too. Congrats….Sweet dreams!

Ohh my!! A bigger classroom… you must be on cloud 9! & a Promethean board… your striking gold! I have a SMART Board and absolutely love it and I don't know what I would do without it at this point! To have students so interactive with concepts through the board and be able to view videos and songs from youtube and other education sites adds such excitement to the classroom! If you every need ideas for websites and activities I use with my pre-k students, feel free to contact me! Enjoy this new and exciting transition!
