First of all, who doesn’t love Mrs. Wishy Washy?! She is one of the favorites in my classroom year after year! She’s funny, she’s energetic and she likes to clean. Mrs. Wishy Washy and I are total opposites in that regard. I’m not the cleaner of our family. Sad but true.
Joy Cowley, the brains behind Mrs. Wishy Washy has a new collection of books, The Joy Cowley Collection, with lots of fun characters and great new stories. Another thing that I love about this collection is that the books are great for punctuation, rhyming, opposites, comparing and contrasting and many other skills.
My favorite books in the new collection are the gruesome series. Why? Because the monsters will appeal to boys!! It’s so hard to find books to appeal to boys, so I love any books that will get my boys excited about reading.
I love the Mr. Tang series because of his different adventures which allows comparing and contrasting and allows students to make some text to self connections.
I love the Barbie (the sheep, not the plastic doll…) books because the main character is a lamb. AWE! A lamb who has lots of adventures!
And of course, Do Whacky Do!
