Apple Centers

Who doesn’t love an apple theme in their classroom?   And what’s a good theme without some apple centers?  And what’s a good center without some fine motor practice and differentiation!   These two center ideas have all of that and they’re super fun!

Bobbing For Apples

First up is our “Bobbing For Apples” apple center.  This center can be used for letter recognition or beginning sound identification.

You’ll need:

attribute apples (Click here to get them on Amazon)

tongs ($1 at Wal-Mart)

bowl ($2 at Was-Mart)

recording sheets (Available in our Apple Research Project)

I used a Sharpie to write lowercase letters on the apples!

Then place the apples in the bowl with tongs.  Students “bob” for apples with the tongs.  They choose an apple, say the letter (or sound) and color the picture!  The use of the tongs makes great fine motor practice!

Apple Centers:  Apple Tree Letters

Our next apple center is another activity that is really great for fine motor skills!

I found these dry erase apple clips at the Target Dollar Spot and ya’ll, I seriously bought every single on they had!  I wrote lowercase letters on them with a Sharpie.

The students put the apple in the apple tree by matching the letters!  Using the clips (clothespins) is more fine motor practice!
