Howdy! I can’t believe it’s been three days since I posted! I am actually blogging from the car while the mister drives us to Chicago! Stay tuned for huge news from the mister and me! Well I have a very good reason!! I’ve been in Indiana for the Indiana Blogger/Teacher meet up! It was awesome to get to be in my home state with so many amazing teachers!!
Soap box time! For all of the people who attack teachers and blame us for all that is wrong with education: picture this! More than 50 teachers gathered on a weekend, on their own dime, many on spring break, most traveling hundreds of miles so we could connect and learn and become better! To our critics I say: #EVALUATETHAT. TO my fellow teachers, I say this: it’s time we use our collective voice (a very powerful voice!!) to change the narrative on teaching!!! We must share our stories of good, of those mini moments of awesome from our classroom, the moments of love and friendship and hope our students show daily, the sacrifices we make to provide our students with every possible material and opportunity for success. It’s time! It’s time that we show the world that teachers are amazing, talented, caring professionals who are changing lives!
Soap box over!
This weekend was amaze-balls!! I got to surprise my niece in her kindergarten class…I got to meet some teachers who have been some of my biggest supporters…I spent the weekend talking all things teach with 50 amazing teachers…I got free Scentos smelly markers…I made new friends…I laughed myself into exhaustion…I posed for so many pictures my smile hurt…and most importantly I was surrounded by the most incredible, inspiring teachers everywhere! I am so pumped to go teach my ‘staches (after week 2 of spring break of course!)
On Friday I stopped in my hometown (how cool that the blogger meet up was 20 minutes from my hometown!) and surprise my niece in her kindergarten classroom! She opened the door and gasped when she saw me! Made this teacher very happy to see that Miss Gracelynn is in such amazing hands with Mrs. Barry! Thanks for being an incredible teacher Mrs. Barry!
It was really super cool to see some of my ideas and creations in my nieces classroom!!! (That’s my rainbow sight word sheet behind my niece!). It’s pretty cool that I’m helping my niece learn!!!
And I had a full circle moment! I visited my kindergarten classroom! 30 years ago!!! Holy old man Mr. Greg! I must say that being a kindergarten teacher, I can definitely see te influence of my K teachers, Mrs. Kramer! This room was where I got my first kiss…learned to read…had milk thrown in my face…and started my journey to teaching kindergarten!!!!
I seriously can’t say enough about these teachers! They make me a better teacher everyday!!! I’m so blessed to be surrounded by such talent and greatness! (I’m blogging from my phone so I only have limited pictures..I’ll add more pictures when I can download them from my camera!)
Even our hotel recognizes me as a distinguished guest!
The hotel was amazing and took such good care of us!! If you get a chance you must visit Thr French Lick Springs Resort!
This girl! She planned this entire event! This was an epic epic weekend of teacher greatness!!! If you don’t follow her, you must! Thank you Holly! You’re my inspiration!!!
Seriously! Follow her! Mrs. Ehle’s Kindergarten Connection!
Loving my outfit! Especially the shirt! Thanks Gap! And yes I’m posing in the hotel lobby! And yes people were cracking up!!
And major props to my travel buddy, Kristine. We had a blast racing the GPS and keeping it in the red! And buying adult beverages in the Easter aisle at Target. TRUE STORY! You can’t do that stuff in Tennessee people!
So that’s been why I’ve been absent for a day or two! Stay tuned because there is something amazing coming up as a result of this meetup!
And stay tuned for a major, life changing announcement from ME! It’s not teacher related but I’m beyond excited! Get the glitter ready!
(If you attended the meet up, and we took a picture together, please email it to me!! I didn’t get any on my phone or camera!).
