Howdy! It’s Schedulin Sunday here at Kindergarten Smorgasboard World Headquarters!
And it’s apple time in our classroom! This week it’s all about apples! I love apple week! it’s always so much fun and we get to make some big messes. And you know how I love messes! You know my motto: messy=success!
As always, you can download my weekly plans by clicking the picture below!
This week we will be reading these apple books:
We will kick off apple week with a schema map! It’s our first one of the year so I’m uber excited!
Then we will read all about apples and label the parts of an apple.
Tuesday we will review our schema map and learn about the life cycle of an apple.
Wednesday and Thursday we will learn more about apples and do a tree map for apples.
Friday we will celebrate our new apple knowledge with an apple buffet! Cider, juice, apple pie, applesauce and apples!
We will make apple prints! This is the messy part!!!!! And I love it!!! (I did see a great tip on Pinterest…use forks! Jab the for into the top of the apple and then the apples don’t get paint all over them! BRILLIANT!)
We’re also doing an apple stain glass art project!
I trace apples on construction paper. The ‘staches use glue and water to glue on tissue paper squares. When the apples dry, I cut them out! Love how they turn out!
We are also continuing ABC BOOTCAMP!
This week its P,Q,R,S, and T!
And for T we do TIES, TIE DYE, TIARAS and TUTUS!!!
This week in math we’re working on numbers and counting to 20!
We will be singing a lot of songs! We will be using apples to count! We will be doing small group work and lots of math hippopotamuses!
Of course we will read Ten Apples On Top and put apples on top of our heads!
In small groups, we will be working hard on number recognition to 10!
This is one of the most effective number recognition activities I’ve done in kindergarten! It’s so much fun for the ‘staches. It’s super easy prep for us. It’s engaging and IT WORKS!
