Sight word review (and phonics review) can be a boring, repetitive thing. And what happens when our kids are bored? Boredom….behavior issues…teacher stress….and we don’t want any of those to happen. So why not have your students create a fun, engaging, and exciting sight-word review activity that makes sight-word practice much more engaging?
Sight Word Review Activity: PowerPoint
It’s very easy. You’ll need some sight word posters. A camera. And students.
I print sight word posters for all of the sight words we’ve learned. Then I glue the posters on construction paper and laminate them to make our sight word posters. But you can also adapt this to a phonics review activity by making posters with words that have your targeted phonics skills!

Next, I took pictures of the kids holding the sight word posters.

And finally, I inserted all the images into a PowerPoint to make a sight word review!
When the word pops up, we can read it, decode it, spell it, and use it in a sentence. We could even use whiteboards to write the word!
My kids LOVE this review game because they get to see their own faces and their friends’ faces! That creates a connection and increases engagement. And it’s silly. So we giggle. And giggling means we’re having fun. And learning must be fun!
We use our Sight Word 60 resource to explicitly teach sight words, then we use the review activities to practice!
