1 more day until spring break.  We. Can. Make.  It.
Today I want to share my favorite guided reading supplies!   I’m not the most organized teacher in the world.  True story.  I start out with great intentions and then kindergarten happens…and I am defeated by the unorganization monster!
But…baby steps….right?!?!   So I started with my guided reading/small group supplies since that’s where we spend the most time.
I have a basket on my guided reading table that contains all of the supplies we need for our lessons.  The books are kept in a drawer next to the table.
So what do we use for guided reading?!  Well here ya go…
Reading fingers!  We use different reading fingers to help us point to the words and keep us engaged!  (During my final evaluation of this year my principal even got excited about the reading fingers being used!)
I allow the students to choose their own fingers….choice=empowerment=engagement!
I found these finger lights on Amazon and they are a huge hit!  I love how they light up each word as we read!  The light really helps us focus on the words!
I found my lights on Amazon.  I got 80 lights for $10!   (You can never have too many finger lights…trust me!)

We also have these awesome/creepy (it’s a fine line!) fingers that I found at Dollar General at Halloween!
We do a lot of word work and sentence writing during our guided reading time so we need lots of dry erase tools for our writing!
We use these awesome dry erase paddles!  My mommy got these for me as a kindergarten gift years ago.  I use them for everything.  Whole group…small group…one on one…they’re so fun and the ‘staches LOVE THEM!
We use these for word work and writing sight words!

We also love these laminated circles.  I ordered the circles from Creative Teaching Press.  Laminated them.  BAM!  Colorful dry erase circles!  These are great for our sentence writing and word work!
Now, with all of this dry erase work, we need erasers.
Our solution????
SOCKS!  YES!  SOCKS!!!   I send home a note at the beginning of each year asking for old socks.  Then I wash them.  A lot.
These make perfect erasers for dry erase work!!  And they’re free.  And we have plenty of them.  Trust me, plenty.

Of course we need some writing supplies, so besides pencils, we use highlighters to highlight words in our take home books.

These are Scentos highlighters.  So of course, we have to sniff them.
We also use these fun Scentos pens for our writing.  The ‘staches (and let’s be honest…Mr. Greg) loves all of the colors.  And we love smelling these too…
We keep copies of our letter sound  chart handy so we can refer to it as we work.

And of course, we need rewards for all of our hard work during small group time…so who doesn’t love scratch and sniff stickers?!   Remember these from when we were young?!
We LOVE these stickers!
I found these on Amazon!

My ‘staches are OBSESSED with these movie scent markers from Mr. Sketch.  I mean…obsessed.  I have some of these in their supply baskets so our classroom always smells like nachos or popcorn.
I use these to make little circles on the back of their hands after guided reading!  It’s a simple reward that they love!!  I have about 37 packages of these markers.  You know…just in case there is a world wide shortage…or a smelly marker zombie apocalypse…you can never be too prepared….just sayin!
I also keep my guided reading plans in a binder in my basket.  There handy.  And I love that I have these all in one place so I can refer back to them!
