A Kindergarten Smorgasboard Satu…Sunday Post!

Are you confused?!  Have you missed me?!  It’s been 2 days since I posted something.  Well, forgive me.  We had training Friday and then my Spring Break officially kicked off.  I’ve been unwinding for a couple of days!  But I’m BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

Today we went shopping for furniture and a refrigerator for the new house.  We got a fancy new refrigerator for the fancy new house.  No furniture yet.  However, as we were coming home, we passed our neighbor’s house.  A black car was leaving the gates of said home.  In the car was a lady with large blonde hair.  We immediately recognized said lady.  We might or might nor have turned around and stalked chased followed her.    True story.  Oh, did I mention that our neighbor is DOLLY PARTON!  True story.  We saw Dolly today!  WOOHOO!

Alright, here is what your came for.  The weekly wrap up off all things fun, glittery, chaotic and sarcastic that are the Kindergarten Smorgasboard!

This week was all about St. Patrick’s Day!  We even had a visit from Lucky the Leprechaun!  (On top of Running Records, report card assessments and end of the 9 weeks stuff!)
This week our math standards were all about measuring!  We have been measuring quite a bit this year (um, yeah Common Core Standards!)  so my monsters are pretty good at measuring!  We are working really really hard on lining up our rulers with the edge of the picture!  They’re getting better!  This week we measured St. Patrick’s Day and Easter!  We started off the week by ordering objects by size.  We ordered Easter eggs, leprechauns and rainbows!  The monsters mastered this so quickly!  Yeah, go monsters!   We then moved onto measuring pictures with our fun holiday themed rulers!

Seriously, look at that concentration and engagement   BAM!
We are measuring the height and width of objects now!  We also know the difference between the two!
This week we also had a visit from a tricky little fellow named Lucky.  Lucky visited on Tuesday and ate all of our suckers and left the sticks and trash all over our room.  (Lucky says his teeth hurt and he never wants to see another Dum Dum sucker.  EVER.  EVER!)

Lucky needed to “use it” while he was in our room.  Leprechauns “use it” green!
Lucky is either from Mexico or the pot of gold was at the end of the rainbow in Mexico!

We made noodle shamrocks this week!  These were so much fun and time consuming which really means great for fine motor skills!  (For more on coloring the pasta, see my post here!)

We made hand-print shamrocks!  How cute are these?!

And we did pepper shamrock stamping!  The monsters were so funny talking about the smell in the classroom from the peppers!

We also finished our HUGE torn paper rainbow project!  Spectacular!  This will be on display in our hallway for the rest of the year!

And no holiday celebration is not complete without silly hats!  This week was a rainbow hat with a pot of gold!

Friday we enjoyed the Wizard Of Oz, popcorn, cupcakes and shamrock shakes!
Friday was a training day for us and we had our day 2 training for Kagan Structures.  Do you know it?  Do you use it?  Thoughts?  I will say it was a disappointing training because it was almost a repeat of day 1.  However, I did walk out with 1 stellar idea.  I am working on a creation that will help us review tons of skills while moving and having a little fun!
Check out this 10 Frame Popsicle stick review game!
Also, have you heard that Google Reader is going away on July 1st?  I was a little upset at first, but after doing some research, it sounds like this is a good thing.  Here’s why.  Google hasn’t updated Reader and no other products have been created because, well let’s face it, Google owns the world.  Now that Google is letting Reader go away that means there will be new and better things for blogging and reading logs.  Innovation is good!  That being said, I have checked out two alternatives to Reader and I am using Bloglovin as my new blog reader!  I tried Feedly but didn’t like the way it worked.  Bloglovin in more like Google Reader!  Be sure to check it out!
(IGNORE THIS techno jargon…it’s necessary for me to claim my blog on Bloglovin!)

Also this weekend, I finally got to meet one of my Bloggy BFFs!  Kim from Kindergarten365 is AMAZING!  She’s funny, sweet, generous, smart, and an amazing teacher.  I am so lucky to call her friend!    And isn’t she beautiful!  She was in Nashville for her daughter’s cheer leading competition and they won grand champion!  WOOHOO!
