Click to download my weekly lesson plans!
Monday
I will be attending the Tennesee Kindergarten Conference!  I will be hanging out with the one and only JACK HARTMANN!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And my pal Deanna Jump and Kim Adsit!  I am looking forward to learning so much!  And I hope to meet some of my TN friends!!
Tuesday
Hopefully, I return to a classroom that’s clean and nothing is destroyed or missing.  I’m sure things will go well with my sub!
We kick off our turkey week with Turkey Trouble!  After reading the story we will create a circle map of all things we know about turkeys!
We will make our circle map of D words and of course, we will make a silly hat!  How about a duck hat for D?
We will write about what we’re thankful for using a predictable chart!
In math, we will continue working on addition and solving equations with pictures.  This week will focus on small group instruction so I can address the needs of students in a more specific way.  We will be using my Dino and Unicorn math packs again.  This week I will be showing the students and equation and they will have to solve the equation on their white board.
Today’s turkey art project is one of my all time favorites!  I love how cute these turn out and they look so good hanging from our ceiling.  The best part is that every year, no matter what, someone gives the turkey dumbo ears!!!
Wednesday
Today we will read Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving and create a flow map to re-tell the story.
Today we will write a recipe on how to cook a turkey.  I’m pretty sure you won’t want to eat our turkey…just sayin’!  I can’t wait to see how these turn out!
In math, we will continue working on addition and solving equations.  I am focusing on writing equations with plus and equals signs and drawing pictures.
Today we will be thankful for the words we can read.  This is another favorite because of the message it sends to the ‘staches that reading is important and we should be thankful for reading!  I also love how cute these look on the bulletin board!
To do this, I assess the students on the sight words we know.  They color their feathers and glue them onto the turkey!
Thursday
We will read 10 Fat Turkeys.  We will share our favorite parts.  We will write about being a turkey in disguise.  We will complete a predictable chart:  If I were a turkey, I would pretend to be a…
And then we will complete this awesome craftivity where the pigeon from The Pigeon books is disguised as a turkey!!  TOO CUTE!!
Math will be more equations and addition in small groups.
Friday
Today we will read The Thankful Book.  We will discuss all the things we are thankful for!
We will complete a predictable chart:  Thanksgiving is…
Math will be an addition assessment.
Friday also means Foodie Fun Friday and Mad Scientist Friday!
Since we’re doing D this week we will fry up some doughnuts.  We will use can biscuits and I will fry them and then the ‘staches will roll them in sugar!
Mad Scientist Friday will be making glitter slime!
And that’s our week!!!
During math, students will complete a differentiated math sheet and then work in centers while I work with small groups.  You can download the practice pages for free!  Just click the picture!
All of our Thanksgiving activities this week (and our centers) will come from my Thanksgiving creations!  And they’re on sale for 50% off!  Click the pictures to check them out!
