One of my favorite activities to do during the beginning of the school year is to write our hopes and dreams for kindergarten. It’s so much fun to see what my ‘staches want to learn in kindergarten. I also love that we use this as a way to connect with our families. We involve our families in our goal writing for kindergarten. This is such a huge hit with my families each year. This year, many parents wrote sweet notes thanking me for taking the time to ask and involve them in this great activity!
BIG PLANS!
We kick off our hopes and dreams by reading the book Big Plans!
Another great book for this lesson is There’s No Dream Too Tall by Amie Dean!
And if you look closely at the first page of the book, you’ll see a familiar teacher!

Do you have this as a packet and is for sale? It's a great idea! Do you really have 12 students?!
I LOVE this idea! And I agree with Lee Ann…where can I get the puzzle piece outlines?

Learning at the Teacher Table
Your dreams for your kids are so sweet!
Just ordered the book. We have goal setting conferences with our families soon. I will be using this as a way to jump start our conversation about their child.

Love this idea! We do Responsive Classroom in our school and always start the year with Hopes and Dreams. It is such a powerful first parent connection. Thanks for sharing!
Where did you get it. Everywhere I have looked it's $40.
