You’ve been asking for videos from the first day of school and from the beginning of the year and this year I’ve been recording tons of videos and now that I have all release forms I can start sharing the videos!
This video is of our very first day of school. You’ll see the kids arriving and you’ll see our first morning meeting. This year I do have a student teacher so you’ll see her assisting. (Note: This is a typical first day and typically this is what is happening with just me and no help!)

how do you get them to understand not to sit too close to a friend? Mine want to pile up to visit even when I remind them to move. they just move to another friend.

Do you find that having the kids sit in a circle helps behavior?

Nope! We have a 30 minute arrival window because we have breakfast in the classroom!

That was a wonderful introduction to the day. I have to go over bathroom and backpacks and snack also. For the drawing can they draw anything or did you have a drawing for them to color?
Just curious, but do the parents know that they are being video taped?
OF COURSE! I would never, ever do that without permission. We have releases every year, for every student. If it turns out a student release isn’t received they aren’t on video but that has only happened once that I can think of. Is there a reason you ask? Would you like a copy of the release to be able to use in your classroom so you can video and photograph? We are happy to share!!
