I hope you enjoy another great guest blogger while I am enjoying Key West!!!!!

Hey everyone! I hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday!!! Before I share my “Technology Tuesday Tip” with you, I have to send Greg a shout out!!! In case you have never met Greg, he is a great guy! Full of fun ideas and great to talk to! I got to have dinner with Greg and a few other TN Bloggers this summer and it was great meeting him! He was laid back and energetic at the same time. Greg, I am so excited for you and your new hubby! I hope that you two had a fabulous wedding filled with love and great moments! And thank you for inviting me to come and guest blog for you!

As I was looking at Greg’s schedule I noticed last Tuesday the theme was “Technology Tuesday.” So I decided to take that theme and run with it!

If you are like most of the kindergarten teachers in the U.S. you are learning a whole new set of standards this year. Common Core State Standards. Have you heard of them? Yea… I thought so! One of the newest things that we have been focusing on in Literacy is the importance of informational texts.

If you would like to check out the Common Core State Standards for Informational Texts, click the logo below.

On top of checking out informational texts from the school library to share with my class for us to use in class, I have been using a lot of technology to teach these standards. Two of my favorite sites to use are: Bookflix and PebbleGo.

Lets Talk About Bookflix. It’s a wonderful site that is separated into 9 categories. Categories range from “People and Places” and “Animals and Nature” to “ABCs and 123” and “Imagination.” Each category has several pages of books and videos.

For example, as you can see in the above picture, Celebration has the story “Duck for President” in video format and then the informational text “Election Day” to go along with it. You can see how this can be both useful and engaging!

To find out about PebbleGo head on over to my blog to read all about it!

Hope to see you there!!
