St. Patrick’s Day Art!

Holy talking leprechaun!  I’m desperate for a minute of quiet.  Two more days Mr. Greg !

So, here’s how my day started.  Morning meeting is rolling along.  Knock knock knock.  Maintenance arrives.  “I’m here to disconnect your sink.”  Ummmm. Sure, ok!  Here’s the back story ( with photographic evidence!).

For four years my sink has been a colony of mold and unknown substances.  I’m talking black mold people.   Four years.  Lord knows what’s growing in my body from inhaling such lovely particles.  How bad is it you ask?  There’s so much mold it smells like kitty liter.  That is all.

So dude comes to disconnect the sink.  Picture it:  17 monsters.  Man with large saw.  Commence sawing.  Bbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrr.  Bbbbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrr.  Yeah.  Now we have no sink.  Supposedly we’re getting all new cabinets and a sink.  Allegedly.  (PS. I have a ton art supplies….have you met me!?  They’re stored….we’re stored….in the cabinets.  No more cabinets.  Room a mess!).

Today we did a super fun St. Patrick’s Day art project!  I love this and we do it every year!

Pepper Shamrock Stamping!

You need peppers with three sections on the bottom ( not four!)

Cut the bottom off the peppers (about 2 inches off the pepper get cut off!). Make sure the cut is straight so the whole thing touches the paper.  I’m not a cook nor am I handy with a knife so mine weren’t even.  It’s a Greg thing!

Spread green paint on a plate.

Student dips a pepper in the paint and stamps a shamrock on their paper.

Today I also prepped our supplies for tomorrow’s shamrock project!!  This is one of my most favorite art supplies to make!  It’s COLORED PASTA!!!

Here’s what you need:  Pasta, rubbing alcohol and food coloring!
I put pasta in a zip-loc bag and add several (and by several, I mean a lot!) drops of food coloring.  I add a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol (this helps the pasta dry!)
Seal the bag!  AND SHAKE!  SHAKE SHAKE SHAKEY SHAKE!  Shake weight it!!!
Pour the pasta onto plates to allow it to dry!

Colored pasta!
And now, we’ve reached a major milestone!!!!!!
Yakity Yak, don’t talk.  At. all.

Its z for zipper.  Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls.  Today was the last alphabet silly hat!!  We have reached the end.  Zip it up.  Now it’s time for me to get creative with our silly hats!
