A Kindergarten Smorgasboard Of Organizing For Instruction

It’s HUMP DAY!  And Teacher Week at Blog Hoppin continues!  Have you been checking out the great ideas?  Today’s topic is organizing for instruction.  Lord.  Organization is not my strong point.  But I’m really trying.  And by trying I mean I’ve changed the places where I pile stuff and papers!  RIGHT?!  Seriously, I do have a couple of little organization ideas to share.  These help keep us on track and help Mr. Greg keep materials for each day organized and in one place!

This is how I keep my materials for each day organized.  These wooden drawers are from IKEA!  How much do we love that place?!    There is a drawer for each day and in that drawer are the lesson materials, activities and art pieces we need for the lessons for the day.  I love this because I keep everything together and in one place.  No more searching all over for the lost materials!

This is our daily schedule.  This helps keeps the ‘staches on track.  This also helps eliminate the “Is it time to go to lunch?” and “Is it time to get home?” questions.  OK…eliminate is a strong word.  It cuts down on the questions…so instead of 45,886 questions I get 2,456 a day!
Each day the mustache starts at breakfast.  As the day wears on and we move from one part of our day to our next, the stache moves.  The mustache shows the ‘staches where we are in our day.  They can see how long until home and lunch!
Making the schedule was really easy.  I printed off my schedule cards (included in my mustache decor pack) and hot glued them onto the door.  I put Velcro dots on the mustache and door.  This allows the stache to move easily.  For our special areas I used Velcro instead of hot glue!  This allows me to change our specials each day!
And yes, the mustaches love using this.  If I forget to move the mustache, they let me know it!  I will be introducing this as a class job soon!  One less thing for Mr. Greg to worry about!
And finally, something that has kept me very well organized for two years!  My teacher planner!  This is a must have!  I use the monthly calendars to keep track of meetings, events, blog topics and ideas and more!  (And my birthday is September 22 so it’s included!)

I use my to do list to keep track of all things I need to do.  This is a huge help for me!  I list school projects, blog stuff, ideas for Common Core creations and much more!  When something is done I mark it off!  Oh how it good it feels to mark off something from a list!
