(PS I spent the weekend in Indiana celebrating my hometown’s 200th birthday…so I’m beat…so…yeah…this might not be the best post ever…but I had to say hi to the best followers and readers and friends EVER! And share some ideas…and freebies!)
This week we continue our celebration of all things fall by learning all pumpkins!!!
It’s pumpkins for everyone. YOU GET A PUMPKIN! YOU GET A PUMPKIN! EVERYBODY GETS A PUMPKIN! Ok…that was my Oprah moment for the day…
We learn all about the life cycle of a pumpkin…the parts of pumpkins…we measure ourselves with pumpkins…we do science experiments on pumpkins….we will make pumpkin pie and dissolve pumpkin candy. We will make noodle pumpkins and finger print pumpkins…people, it’s all things pumpkin!
Pumpkin Measuring! We predict how tall we are and then measure! We record our answers on our class chart. Mr. Greg snaps our picture (with his very fancy, very complicated new Rebel T3i camera!) and we make a class book!
We make noodles out of pasta wheels! I have a YouTube video on making colored pasta! Click the picture to see the video!
KWL Charts…Brace Maps…Pumpkin writing and reading!
We will explore pumpkins using our 5 senses. We will vote on SHORT OR TALL PUMPKINS! We will see if pumpkins sink or float!
We are also working on adding this week so we will be solving equations by drawing pictures (pumpkins!).
Mad Science Friday will be dissolving candy corn and the candy corn pumpkins using water, oil and vinegar!
Foodie Fun Friday will be pumpkin pies! We will use vanilla pudding, pumpkin pie filling and mini pie shells to make our pumpkin pies!
