A Kindergarten Smorgasboard Schedulin Sunday: April 6th, 2015

First things first… I hope the Easter bunny was good to you and left you lots of chocolate!  If he left too much chocolate, you can send it my way!!
HAPPY EASTER!!!
And now…a shortened, holiday version of Schedulin Sunday!
We’re kicking off plants this week and working on skip counting!  We’ve been counting by 5 and 10 during our calendar routine for months, so we’ve got the counting thing down…BUT this week we’re going to apply that skill with some fun activities and projects…
As always, my weekly plans are available by clicking on the picture!
This week we’re introducing -ing words and working with adjectives.  Last week we did an awesome (GLITTERY) adjective lesson (Blog post coming tomorrow) where we introduced adjectives and used adjectives to describe each other.  This week we’re going to use adjectives to describe Mr. GREG….and then we’re going to work on jazzing up our writing with adjectives!
Some of our plant activities this week include:
Planting seeds (DUH), carnations in food coloring to see how water travels through plants, labeling the parts of a plant, panting flowers and lots of plant research and writing!
We will be using my Plantin’ Seeds Research Project creation for our plant unit.

I love this sponge painting activity!  Just cut some sponges in the shape of petals.  And paint!!!!  Super cute, super easy and low mess.  Although we know how much I love to make a mess!

For Foodie Fun Friday, we read one of my favorite books, Tops And Bottoms and then we have a tops and bottoms salad!!!
Ingredients:  lettuce, carrots, beets, radishes, broccoli, and celery!  (And I even give them ranch!)
We sort the foods by top or bottom (where they grow) and then we make our salad and chow down!  YUMMY!!!
In math, we’re skip counting!
Monday we’re going to use our FEET to make a class chart for counting to 100 by tens.  Each ‘stache will stamp their feet on the chart and label it (10, 20….100).  Then I’ll laminate the chart and display it!
Tuesday, we’re doing something similar.  Each stache will get some feet to color.  They will cut them out and glue them on their paper to count by 10 to 100!
Wednesday and Thursday are the same activities…but counting by 5.
We will use our handprints instead of feet!
Click the picture to get your free skip counting cut outs!
We’re also continuing our addition fluency tests.  30 problems.  3 minutes.  Love seeing their growth!!
As always, a poem and emergent reader for ya!
