We also do a craft for each country!
Germany: Christmas Tree!
Mexico: Poinsettia
Italy: Old Befana Broom
I also tried to incorporate little activities from each country!
We watched the Queen give her Christmas speech.
People, the ‘staches were RIVETED! They oohed and aahed over her and her castle!
And one of the ‘staches says ” Man, she’s really old!”
St. Nicholas brought treats and left them in our shoes! (Germany)
For Mexico, we got to bust a pinata of course!
The best part was that my class spontaneously busted into the pinata song in Spanish! It was epic!
(And the door was propped open and 2 dogs wandered in….we didn’t even notice because of the pinata excitement!)
And we ended our first week as world travelers with a meal!
A grandparent made 30 homemade tamales! OMG DELICIOUS!
We had christmas trees (Germany)
Yule Logs (Little Debbie Swiss Rolls)
Tortilla chips and cheese (Mexico)

Great ideas. Funniest part-“Two dogs wandered in” I laughed hysterically. I only wish that could happen in my tightly secured school setting!
You did an awesome job with all of this! I also cracked up at the dogs wandering in – your ‘staches are very lucky to have you for a teacher!

Love this project! We do a very similar one in my classroom. The students love learning about holiday traditions around the world.
Do the stories from each country come along with this packet or do I need to find my own books?
You will need to find and read your own books with your students. A suggested list is included.
You will get your own books but there is a suggested book list included. That is part of the fun, doing the research WITH your students by reading books together and watching videos.
Is there a book you read for Australia???? Or a video you liked?? Thanks!!!
It is called Christmas Wombat!
What week/day do you typically begin your Holidays around the world project?
We started yesterday 11/26/18.
I cannot find the post on India, so I can’t figure out how to make the oil lamp project. Can you give me a link or guide me as to where I can find it? Thanks!
I am not sure what oil lamp project you are looking for? Can you email us at kindersmorgie@gmail.com and we’ll be happy to see if we can help.
