# 100th Day: Schedulin’ Sunday

Happy  Schedulin’ Sunday! This week we’re celebrating our 100th day of school, working on subtraction and kicking off our Black History Month celebration!

And as always you can download my lesson plans by clicking the image below!

### Black History Month Research Project

The ‘staches will be using my Black History Research  creation to research and write about African American heroes.  We will learn about each of these heroes and the contributions they made to our world.  For each person, we will read a book and watch a short YouTube clip.  We will then complete a class chart and write in our research journal.  And of course, for each person we will do an art project!

For each hero, there are labels for the class charts, a picture for the chart, and two differentiated recording sheets.  Also included is a fact sheet for each person:

This week we’re learning about:  Rosa Parks, Jesse Owens, Marian Anderson and Wilma Rudolph!

This week we’re also continuing  Vowel Bootcamp!   We will spend 2 days on each vowel.  Day 1 will be a vowel sort for the long and short vowel song.  Day 2 will be reading magic e words using a circle map!

I did a pre-assessment on short and long A and short and long o.   48% of my ‘staches could heard the two vowel sounds and about the same could read the words.   After two days of vowel bootcamp, 85% could hear the sounds and 90% could read the words!!   I was so pumped for them and so thrilled to see their growth!

#### Math

In math, we will be working on subtracting numbers to 10!

We will play GET OFF MY BOAT to practice subtraction!

Literally we make a boat on the floor using our Sit Spots tape.  We write an equation on the board.  People get on the boat.  Then we subtract and kick some people off our boat.  And that gives us the answer!  We played this game last week and the laughter and giggles from my ‘staches was epic.  They loved this so we will play it again this week.  This week we will add some writing.  The students will write the equations on whiteboards.

Check out this post to see this lesson in action!

The students will get to go bowling to practice subtraction.  Again, we did this last week and we loved it.  So we’re doing it again. This week we will be recording our bowling equations on this recording sheet.  Click the image to get your freebie!

For students who need some extra practice with subtraction, we will play Subtraction Smash!  We get to smash play dough balls to practice taking away!  Click the images to see this game in action and snag your freebies!

And, we are celebrating the 100th day of school!!!

We kick off our 100th day with a favorite read aloud:  Miss Bindergarten Celebrates The 100th Day!

100 days of dance parties….laughter….tears…fun…learning….hugs…love and friendship!

We are celebrating with hats, snacks, 100 Hershey Kisses, hugs, high fives and 100 words!
