Week 36 of kindergarten. Here we are. The last week of school. The last Schedulin’ Sunday for the school year. Can you believe it? This year has FLOWN by! And yes, I have stuff planned for our last week. Why? Because if we don’t keep them busy, they will be even more feral than they already are. And none of us can handle them being any more feral. So yes, have some plans for the last week. Or else.

Kindergarten Lesson Ideas: The Last Week Of School
For math and phonics, we’re going to use beach balls to review some skills. Easy. Fun. Gets us up and moving! You write on the balls with a permanent marker. Kids throw the ball back and forth. They can read the words, spell the words, write the equations, etc.

End Of The School Year: Memory Books
This week, we are finishing our kindergarten memory books. This ties into the book A Letter From Your Teacher On The Last Day Of School. Students share their favorite memories for each topic, and we create our graphic organizer. Then they write and draw to complete their memory book page!
Everything you need is included in our Read It Up! resource!

End Of The Year Activities: Luau
We end our school year with A for ALOHA! We do a simple luau activity. And by simple I mean the kids wear leis, I decorate a little and we make a snack!

End Of The Year Activities
We have a few other end of the year traditions that we will wrap up this week.
First, we decorate a white blazer for Mr. Greg. After the students decorate the blazer, I wear it for our end-of-the-year video and classroom celebration. Then, I will wear it again for Meet The Teacher night next year!

Next, we do our end of the year self portraits. We make self portraits at the beginning of the year and we make them again at the end of the year to see how much we’ve grown as humans and artists!

Our final tradition is our name-writing activity. On the first day of school, we wrote our names on chart paper. Now, on the last day of school, we do the same thing and compare how far we’ve come as readers, writers, and learners!

And finally, we officially close out our year with our classroom awards ceremony, where each student gets a kindergarten certificate, a personalized award (think kindergarten superlatives), and a silhouette of themselves. We watch our end-of-the-year video, Mr. Greg reads the book, I knew You Could, and we have our very last dance party before heading out the door!

End Of The School Year: Backwards Bootcamp

The last 3 days of school mean we’re wrapping up Backwards Bootcamp!
C-cookies and crazy hair! We bring our favorite cookies to share and we graph our favorite Oreo!

B-bubbles! We blow bubbles and we see if we can blow a bubble with bubble gum and graph the results!

A-Aloha! We have a class luau!
And for our hats we have cookies, cats, bees, butterflies, apples and astronauts!

Summer Packet
We also send home our summer packet for families who want it. I send a message and ask if anyone wants the packet. I make the packet for each family. Our Take Home Packet resource has over 100 pages of practice for students and includes an answer key for families!
