You Get What You Get….and You Don’t Fuss A Bit

I went out today and did a little shopping for back to school.  I hit up Michaels and Deals.  Deals is like the Dollar Tree but they have stuff for $1, $3, $5 and $10 too.  I am pretty impressed with my haul!  I got some baskets, paper for my new monster-ific clip chart, and some card stock to make my ten frame flash cards.

I also marked off a BIG item on my back to school list!  I was able to organize all of my center recording sheets into folders and label them.  I actually saw this on Pinterest so I wanted to do it because I am forever losing sheets and having to print new ones or make new ones.  Hopefully this will help.  Of course, this isn’t all of my recording sheets, these are just the ones I had printed and copied and just floating around.  I will continue to keep this project going on all year.  You know, with all of my free time during the school year.  Thank you Pinterest!

I also printed off a TON of stuff to laminate.  Too bad we can’t get into our building until July 16.  Which gives us 8 days to set up our room.  I have 5 days because I will still be working at the daycare.  Someone please explain to principals that if you have teachers who want to come in and work LET THEM!  And jump for joy that you have such dedicated, hard working staff.  Or better yet, become a principal and hire all of the fabulous teacher bloggers out there!  Wow, what an amazing school that would be!  Anyways, I need a laminator.  Stat.  Even baby Butters wants to laminate!

I think this is such a powerful lesson for our little scholars.  They need to learn to appreciate what they get and they get what they get.  Throwing a fit isn’t OK.  And it won’t make me give you what you want.  Is it OK to be sad?  Of course, but we move on.  Ok…I sound so hard and mean….but I think it’s important.  I will give you everything you need to learn and be safe in my classroom, it just might not be the same thing that someone else has.  And don’t throw a fit.  And don’t throw your shoes and then your socks at me during your fit.  True. Story.  The shoe thrower is a great story I might share some day!

I made these to hang in my room.  There have been lots of discussion about these quotes so I wanted to make some to go with my monster theme.  I am probably even going to include these on my class newsletters for a while…I think parents need to understand this too!  Click on the picture to download!
