TGIF! I am jealous of all of you who get the whole week of next week! We have school Monday and Tuesday and then I will be using Wednesday to work in my classroom….after I visit the local courthouse to make my name change official!
How was your week? Did we all make it through unscathed? Today we had a meltdown over a puzzle. A puzzle that was….wait for it….AT HOME! Yep. And “our eyebrow hurt” all day. What exactly does one do for a hurting eyebrow?! WEB MD ain’t got nothin’ on me.
Well, if you read my post on Wednesday, you know that I had my observation. And if you read my post yesterday, you know that there were rumors about the observer “raving” about my lesson. Well, today was my post-conference and the results are in. Keep this in mind: Last year was the first year for our new evaluation system and we were told (from the district level) that no one would receive a 5 and that you would have to be like a certain someone who walked on water. Here ya go: not only did my principal rave about my lesson but I received (lets count them…) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 FIVES! I am the ONLY person in my building to ever receive a 5. And not just a five, but five of them. Can I just say the feeling of elation over finally being recognized for the work I do with my kids is ongoing? OK, enough about me. And onto the smorgasboard of learning in kindergarten!
We had some fun today while meeting those common core standards! Yep. Fun. Standards. Learning.
We worked on measurement today with my Gobble Gobble Measurement pack! The kids had so much fun! I will say that using our turkey ruler was a challenge and took serious practice to get the concept that the end of the ruler must line up with the edge of whatever your measuring! (Um, hello frustrated teacher!) But we finally got it and we did some turkey measuring!
Here is a sneak peek of our project for next week! “I Am Thankful For The Words I Can Read!” One of my monsters did this one today as a model for us to use next week! If you need a last minute activity for those of us fortunate enough to work next week, you can get this sight word project in my Thanksgiving pack.
