Why does my body insist on waking me up at 7 a.m. on a Saturday?! I mean, that’s better than my 5 a.m. wake up call during the week…but come on body…I did lay in bed until 8 though…but sleep is what I want! Lots of sleep.
This week you are in for a treat….don’t get overly excited…it’s a short Saturday Kindergarten Post because I only worked two days this week. Tuesday was parent conferences and after the Great Cell Phone Body Search of 2012 I got sick. I was out Wednesday and Thursday sick with flu like symptoms. Yeah…two days…try cramming 5 days of plans into two days! Hehe We did accomplish a lot though!
What is the Great Cell Phone Body Search of 2012 you ask?! Well…in case you missed my Tuesday post about conferences…here is the condensed version. Cell phone rings during conference. Cell phone #1 right side of the bra. Nope. Cell phone #2 left side. Nope. Proceed to rub all over the torso and chest area. Rubby rubby rub. Cell phone #3. DING DING DING We have a winner. Awkward winner of the year….goes to…MR. GREG and the granny cell phone rub down!
Monday was our big election day! We had spent a few days learning about elections and voting and making choices. We made graphs, we voted for cats and dogs and we finally got to vote for President!
We registered to vote!
We entered into our voting booth and cast our vote!
Look how excited she is to vote!!!
CNN and their magic wall has nothing on us! We have our own magic wall for the election. Yes, it was a landslide. But my resident genius artist was proud of her vote for Mr. Romney!
This is our message to all politicians! TELL THE TRUTH! And I think that the president should celebrate his re-election by flying Air Force One to Nashville and flying Matthew on Air Force One. Of course, that means I have to chaperone. And all the monsters have to go! Secret Service nightmare: 16 kindergartners loose on Air Force One!
We also wrote about being president! HILARIOUS!
And one more election story! My substitute left me a note bragging on how impressed she was with my students and their knowledge of the election! YEAH! GO MONSTERS! She said that they had some great conversations about Tuesday night including what channel they watched, how Mitt Romney was the leader in votes sometimes, and one of my monsters even talked about how Mitt Romney had to call and talk to the president and give a “concession speech!” Yes…he used “concession speech!” Umm…who rocks?! Mr. Greg’s Little Monsters!

We started adding this week! We use finger counting to start learning how to add so we got to use Mr. Greg’s finger counting pack! This is my special ed friend who is awesome at adding already!!! Love him!
We also used lego’s to “put together” numbers. This is how we introduce addition: as put together and count to find the answer! Check out my lego unit for number!
How do you know your day in Kindergarten is successful?! You’re messy!!!!! The more mess means the more learning we did!!!
Oh yeah…it’s your Saturday chuckle! Hungry Hungry Hippo hats! We did not focus on “H” this week so we made hippo hats! Who doesn’t love a male kindergarten teacher in a hippo hat?
We discussed Veteran’s day and what veterans have done for us! We did marble painting to make a background for our solider craftivity! The kids were in awe of the marble painting! We had a blast!
Thank you to my favorite veteran, my sissy!
We also read and did some acvitivites with There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Pie so we had a snack…what else?! Pumpkin pie! They devoured two whole pies! NUM NUM!
Um I might be a tech nerd! Two laptops. iPad. Two printers (check out my donors choose project to feed my printers ink!), a SmartBoard, three student computers, an elmo and a laptop for the SmartBoard. I need more gadgets!
I also redecorated our bathroom! I used my Common Core vocabulary cards to make a math word wall in the one place where we spend a lot of time. Might as well make it a learning space, right?!
Click the picture to get your own word cards for your bathroom!
And finally, we stalked butterflies. People, seriously, she was on her belly slithering along like a Navy SEAL trying to catch a butterfly! Never a dull moment in the kindergarten smorgasboard!
I LOVE MY JOB!!!
