Veteran’s Day!

I normally wait until Saturday to show you all of our learning and activities from the week, but I had to share our Veteran’s Day learning today!

I want to dedicate this post to all of our military men and women and their families.  It is their sacrifice that keeps us safe and free.  We owe them our thanks every day.    I especially want to dedicate this post to my favorite Navy vet and my favorite active duty solider:

My baby sister served in the US Navy for 8 years!  My friend Kevin is currently serving in Afghanistan!  True heroes in my opinion.
Becky and Kevin…and all of our men and women in uniform, this one is for you!!
This week is the letter H so we made HERO hats!  They turned out even better than my tiny brain imagined!!!  Love these!

We made these adorable soldiers from Peace, Love and Learning!

 

We used marbles to paint!  Marble painting is so much fun!  You place paint, marbles and paper in a box lid and roll away!  We will be gluing the soldiers to our marble painting!

 

We wrote a thank you letter to soldiers.  This one is on it’s way to Kevin in Afghanistan!  Proud teacher moment:  My buddy Freddie wrote his name all on his own for only the second time!  Be proud Kevin, that was just for you!

 

We read two stories about Veteran’s Day and made a circle map of all the things we learned about our military men and women.  The “don’t leave anyone behind” was not in either book but one of the ‘staches shared it as we were sharing!  So proud!!!

My favorite thanksgiving activity is (going to be) a Thanksgiving “then” day. We are going to travel back in time and churn our own butter, string some cranberries to “dry” and other fun Thanksgiving activities like that 🙂

My favorite activity is having the kids tell my how to make their favorite Thanksgiving dish. We then write the recipes and put together a class booklet for each family.

I love all of your Veteran's Day hats!! Awesome! My favorite Thanksgiving activity? Have students disguise a turkey…It always shows such creativity!

God Bless our heroes – all who have served past and present!
My favorite Thanksgiving activity is the Thanksgiving show we put on for families. Some students are turkeys, some Native Americans, and some Pilgrims. They dress up, sing songs & finger plays, recite poems, etc.

Making crafts (which is limited most of the time due to TIME constraints)–cute Native American handprints, Native American feather headdresses and necklaces (with dyed noodles), thankful turkeys, and anything else that makes learning FUN!! LOVE your blog and your amazing products!

My favorite Thanksgiving activity is making costumes of pilgrims and Native Americans to wear to lunch. My other favorite Thanksgiving activity is eating Thanksgiving dinner. 🙂

I love the feast that we have with all of our kindergarten classes mixed. We visit each others' rooms to cook and sit in the cafeteria and eat together. deccles@joink.com

My favorite Thanksgiving activity is sending home a “What I'm Thankful For” book with each student. Every family member writes and illustrates a page for what they are thankful for. I did this when I was in elementary school and still treasure it as some of my family members that wrote in it are not here anymore.

I don't have a great Thanksgiving activity to share 🙁 But I wanted to say that to this day, I still remember doing many marble paintings when I was in preschool. So fun!

Fantastic activities for Veteran's Day! I think my favorite Thanksgiving activity is making a Turkey handprint card for the parents. Would love to have your Thanksgiving packs they were already on my wish list so it would be awesome to possibly win them. Thanks so much for the chance!

I would love to know what books you read to your class. Veterans is a hard topic to get 5 and 6 year olds to understand. Somehow we always end up on the police and fire department.

My favorite Thanksgiving activity is having a Thanksgiving feast with my students. Students bring something and we practicing sharing! The students love sitting at one long table across from their friends! Its always a good time!
