Is there some sort of show on tv today?!  Something about a game with a ball?  Is it that game where they hit the ball with the stick and then run around the court and get a slam dunk?!
HEHEHE  It’s Super Bowl Sunday and that mean it’s time to eat.  A lot.    And plan for another epic week of kindergarten!!
As usual, you can download a copy of my lesson plans RIGHT HERE!
This week is all about the whistlepig…ok…groundhog…and Valentine’s Day!
Here are some of the books we’re reading this week:
Monday we celebrate the groundhog all day long!
This past Friday, we predicted if the groundhog would see his shadow or no.  Monday morning, we will check the reports and see if our predictions were correct.
We will read Groundhog Gets A Say and record all of our learning on our amazing groundhog fact chart hand drawn by our own, super talented, Mr. Greg.  I mean…that chart is EPIC artistic skills.
We will make a groundhog hat.  DUH.  It’s a day…and any day needs a hat.
We will play flip the coin.  We will flip our groundhog coins and graph shadow and no shadow!
We will do a little roll count and color!
AND we will make a groundhog snack!
If you’re interested in any of these activities, check out our READ IT UP creation for Groundhog Gets A Say!

Tuesday is more groundhog fun.  We will read Groundhog Weather School and make a cute little groundhog craft.
The rest of the week is Valentine’s Day.
We will read The Biggest Valentine’s Ever, The Day It Rained Hearts and If You Give A Mouse A Valentine.
We will use If You Give A Mouse to work on our sequencing skills.
We will use The Day It Rained Hearts to help us practice making 10.
I found this idea at Mrs. Lee’s Kindergarten.  I bought about 5,000 glitter heart stickers at The Dollar Tree (ok..maybe 4,000…) so we’re going to adapt this a bit.  We will put some hearts on the umbrella and some off of the umbrella and write our equation!
We will be making a super cute and simple doggy heart craft!
I just trace different size hearts on construction paper and the ‘staches cut them out and make a puppy.
These go great with our Puppy Love blackline centers!
We’re also doing a super cute and fun estimation activity!
We will estimate how many conversation hearts we can hold in our hands.  Then we will grab a handful and see if we were correct. We will record our estimation and actual amount on our recording sheet as well as our class chart!
We will also draw the correct number of hearts on our hand!

In math, we’re working on Making 10!
We will make 10 with 2 different color snap cubes and record our answers on a chart.
We will use our making 10 Magic Wand from the Math Coach’s Corner.
We make a “wand” of 10 cubes.  And break off cubes.  We then discuss how we made 10 (the piece we broke off the wand and the remaining piece!).  We record answers on our class chart!
For Foodie Fun Friday, we’re going to make these super fun parfaits from Bee In Our Bonnet!
And for Mad Science Friday, we will be doing some candy heart science!
