It’s Schedulin Sunday here at the Smorgie World Headquarters!
This week’s post is going to be pretty short because…well you see…what had happened was…Mr. Greg got his first ever sinus infection and was home sick for 3 days last week with no sub. SO…this week we’re going to be doing what we were supposed to do last week. BUT we have a teacher planning meeting this week and a field trip…so it’s a short week with lots to do! SOOOO….here goes!
As always, you can snag my lesson plans by clicking on the picture below!

Here are some pumpkin ideas that we’ve used in our classroom before!
Pasta pumpkins! Die wheel pasta orange and make pasta pumpkins!
Sink or float! Predict if pumpkins sink or float and then experiment to see what happens!
And my favorite….when we go to the farm on our field trip, we get to bring home a pumpkin! Once we get back to class we cut open the pumpkins and clean them out. We fill them with potting soil and plant a pansy in the pumpkin! This is always one of our favorite activities! I love the squeals and giggles when we are cleaning out the pumpkins!
In math, we’re working on addition to 5!
We will be using out counting ropes to show different ways to add to 5!
We will use our red and yellow counters to add to 5! First we do it whole group! Then we do it on our own! We get to shake our counters, spill the counters and sort! Then we color and write an equation!

Here’s another fun adding to 5 or 10 game! Punkin’ Chunkin!
Put 5 (or 10) pumpkins on the floor. Have student pick a number stand on that number! Then they CHUNK (or jump!) the punkin! You can count how many they jumped and write an addition equation!
And that is our week!
Here are some freebies for ya!
I made this since I still have some ‘staches working on letter recognition! Super sparkly, easy to use letter recognition center/hippopotamus! Spin, say the letter and color the letter on the recording sheet!
And here are the creations/resources we’re using this week!
