Our classroom has a book display shelf to display our books for a theme, unit, holiday, or month. I love displaying the books because the kids can see the covers and get excited about the books. In this post, we share our April read-alouds and spring book collections! Note: these are not comprehensive lists but simply the books we use/have in our classroom. We are constantly adding to our library, so feel free to suggest your favorite titles!
April Read Alouds: Plants
We use our Plants Research Project to study the life cycle of plants, plant needs, and how plants help us. We also plant grass seed and observe how it grows!
One of our favorite plant read-alouds is Tops And Bottoms. Not only is this a great read-aloud for your plant unit, but it’s also a great lesson in hard work! We use this book for comparing and contrasting, graphing, and writing!
We even make a top and bottom salad using different plants that grow above and below the ground!
Easter
We read some fun Easter books that can be Easter or not. The Old Lady Who Swallowed a chick is great for spring and great for sequencing!
Unicorns
April 9 is Unicorn Day, so we celebrate with all things unicorns!
