Well, here we are! Week 18 of kindergartenten. The last 4.5 days of the first semester. I cannot believe the year is half over, but here we are! This week is all about Polar Express activities, Christmas activities, reindeer research, and PANCAKES!

Christmas Activities: CVC WORDS With Reindeer Game
This week, we’re keeping the learning going with some fun reindeer games! On Monday, we will make simple reindeer headbands. I will use a paper clip to attach CVC word picture cards to the headbands. Students will walk around, find a friend, and write the CVC word on their paper.
Christmas Activities: Reindeer Research Project
Listen ya’ll. I know we’re exhausted. The kids are just unhinged at this point. And I know we wanna have all the fun. But we’re keeping things normal (as normal as possible) because we know what happens when we mess with routines and schedules. So we’re gonna have fun and learn about reindeer! I’m excited about this because we haven’t had time for this research project for a few years so it’s going to be fun (the few years…hence the pictures. This resource is updated and is so much better than the last time we used it!)
We will do our schema map, a can/have/are chart and label a reindeer! Easy. Fun. Engaging.
Polar Express Activities: Reading Comprehension
Of course, it’s not December with Polar Express! Thursday is Polar Express Day! We’re going to read the story, do a story map, graph about hot chocolate, and draw a bell. On Friday, we watch the movie!
Of course, we’re also doing a green screen picture!
Christmas Activities: Math
This week, we’re going to do some review math with Uno cards and Christmas trees! We will practicing adding and subtracting by putting ornaments on the tree and taking ornaments off the tree!
We will also count to 20 using Uno cards and bingo stampers. I’m going to draw black lines on paper to look like a cord. Students will turn over a Uno card. They will say the number and make the correct number of lights on their cord using their stamper. They will turn over another card and repeat the process using different colors!
We’re also going to measure ourselves using Christmas trees!
We tape gingerbread to the wall and students estimate how many tree tall they are. Then we measure to see how tall we are! We record the data on our chart. I also snap a picture and we print them off and add them to our recording page!
Christmas Activities: Christmas Light Phonics
We’re also going to light up the week with our Christmas Lights Phonics! If you need something to keep the kids busy for a long time, grab this resource and do it this week. Seriously. It’s a great assessment tool but ya’ll. The kids love it and it does keep them engaged! Hey…we have a lot to do this week, so get something to keep them busy. Really.
Polar Express Activities: Pancakes and Hot Cholocate
Friday is our traditional Polar Express pancake day. Yep. Pancakes. We watch Polar Express and I cook pancakes for the kids! In my pajamas. Ya’ll. They eat SO MANY PANCAKES! Like how??? And yes, we have hot chocolate!
Kindergarten Morning Meeting
This week, our greeting is an ornament greeting. Kids grab an ornament with a friend’s picture on it and greet that friend!
