Happy Sunday! It’s time for another episode of everyone’s favorite game show: what will Mr. Greg decide to attempt with his ‘staches this week? And will glitter be involved?! Well, let’s get right to it, shall we?!
This week is all about plants, how to writing, Peeps and addition!
As always you can download a copy of my lesson plans by clicking on the picture. If you would like an editable version of the template, please visit A Teacher’s Plan to get a copy of the template, known as THE GREG!
Here are the books we will be reading this week to help us learn about plants:
I love starting off our plant unit with The Tiny Seed because Eric Carle is awesome and this book is such a great introduction to the life cycle of plants. And Tops And Bottoms is just one of my favorites because I find it HILARIOUS!
As we read our books, we will be completing a KWL chart, a Can Have Are chart and our Plant Research Journal! We will be working on blending and word building, sight words, sight words and writing! We are on unit 3 of Writing Through The Year so we’re focused on how to writing! I didn’t fully grasp how difficult how to writing is for five year olds. But we’re working on it!
In math, we are focusing on addition and subtraction. We are focused on building fluency and strengthening the understanding of the concepts. This week will be small group work and center work for math! Each day I will pull groups and do a different addition activity! Guess what that means?!?! FREEBIES!
One of our activities will involve using these adorable carrot, chick and bunny eggs I found at The Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart. I am hoarding these. Seriously, every time I’m in these stores I buy more. My name is Greg and I have a problem (it’s not as bad as buying clip art at red lights….just saying…)
In each of the eggs, I put two dice. They choose an egg, shake it, count it, write, and add! They can record their answer on the recording sheet!
Click any picture to get your freebie!
We will also be doing a dice addition activity. We will roll two dice. We will count the dots and draw them on our paper. We will write the equation and the answer!
Click for your freebie!
We will also be adding jelly beans! I will have bags of jelly beans with 2 colors of beans. Student will choose a bag, sort by color, count, write and add!
Another challenging math activity we will be doing are addition circle maps! True story. Thinking Maps in math…
Students will work to figure out which equations go on which circle maps!
The circle maps are available in these Common Core creations:
We will also be doing daily timed fluency tests for addition! We are going for 3 minutes and so far, we are knocking it out of the park on these tests!
We are learning all about plants so we will be doing some fun hands-on plant experiments and art!
Monday we will plant our bean seeds with a moist papertowl and bregin recording our observations in our seed journals. Once the seed has sprouted, we will transplant it into dirt.
We will label plant parts and make a plant parts and needs poster!
We will sponge paint a flower! I love this because it gets so messy! You know the motto: Messy=Success!
For science we will be making edible Peep play dough! Someone shared this on Facebook and as soon as I saw it, I said we were doing this week. The recipe calls for coconut oil and that poses allergy concerns, so we’re using canola oil!
This recipe came from the Kids Activities Blog! Be sure to check them out!
You need 3 peeps per child, oil and 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar!
Put the peeps and oil in the microwave and zap them for about 10 seconds! Add the powdered sugar as your mixing with your hands!
For Foodie Fun Friday we will be making a Tops And Bottoms salad! I bought all of the foods in the book and we will wash, peel, and cut the ingredients and make a salad to enjoy!
And that my friends, is our week!
Here is my newest Common Core creation! Finished at midnight last night! Perfect for math centers and math tubs. (PS The freebie preview CRACKS ME UP! Just saying…)
Let’s give away a copy! Leave a comment (with your email) and share a favorite spring/Easter activity! I’ll choose a winner tomorrow!

I like to make butterflies out of coffee filters and clothespins! First spray the coffee filters with water, then let the kids watercolor them. After they are dry, gather them in the middle (making the butterfly shape, and put the clothespin on it. You can hot glue it to hold it on. Then, you can add pipe cleaners for antennae and even small wiggle eyes! 🙂 They are super cute hanging from the ceiling but we aren't allowed to hang things from our ceiling anymore. 🙁 kristiradford@gmail.com
You and I should have got together this weekend because we are doing the same exact things!! Your things look awesome…thanks for sharing!!

I love EVERYTHING about this! Your lesson plans amaze me! I dont know how you get so much accomplished!! I LOOOOVE the math activities! I have already purchased those eggs and now to have the freebie to go along with it makes my life soooooooo easy! I also saw the peep play-dough! Looks fun! We did plans at the beginning of the year.. but I think im going to do them again! I will be getting chick eggs in about 2 weeks for my classroom to observe and hatch! Do you have any good ideas or TpT products you have seen on those? I already bought chick Easter eggs! Please let me know with your amazing ideas! I am hoping to get a lot of spring art going on in my classroom! My kinders have matured sooooooo much and are turning becoming so responsible.. what better way to award than with some ART! slane@siu.edu

Fabulous plant activities! We are studying the same things this week. We are working on informative writing after receiving a letter from poor Mr. McGregor. Seems Peter ate all his veggies. Mr. McG is in such a state, he cannot remember how to grow his garden. We are researching, making a paper garden in the hall, making lists of what to plant and why and much much more. We will then write back to Mr. McG and let him know how to plant a new garden and how to handle that dang Peter! 🙂

Mrs. Spriggs’ Kindergarten Pond
This is amazing!!! I just started subbing for a maternity leave in kindergarten and I stumbled upon your page while looking around for some extra resources and it is a lifesaver! Thanks for sharing! We just did an experiment on Friday with carnations and food coloring. it's a great way to teach about the functions of the different parts of the plant. Plus, they had a blast and I'm so excited for them to come in and see their colorful carnations this morning! sgibson@aak8.org
We soak lima beans and gently open them to observe the parts of a seed and then draw a diagram and label with our new plant vocab. Also watch stop action video from youtube to see the seed germinate. Milakdnj@verizon.net. thanks!

fake watches uk – The tech team at Nordstrom, meanwhile, has taken a more direct approach. The company hired Curalate, a social analytics firm, to create a platform called Like2Buy, a sort of shadow Instagram portal synced with swiss replica watches the company's real Instagram profile. Everything a Nordstrom fan “likes” is stored on a separate site that looks like Instagram, except the photos carry links to product pages.
longchamp outlet – At the time of its launch in August, Bryan Galipeau, Nordstrom's director of social media, said the longchamp handbags work-around was the closest thing yet to “delivering a seamless shopping experience.” Beyond tech strategy, however, there is one major difference between Kors and Nordstrom on Instagram: Kors is almost five times more popular.
