It’s Schedulin Sunday time here at Kindergarten Smorgasboard World Headquarters! I am super pumped about this week’s plans! So let’s jump right into the glittery goodness!
As always, you can download a copy of my plans by clicking on the picture!
This week, we continue our ABC BOOTCAMP with letters K, L, M, N, and O!
M is my favorite because…um….MUSTACHE DAY! And boy do I have an epic surprise for mustache day!

This week we will be using fairy tales to helps us work on the beginning, middle and end of stories as well as characters and setting!
Monday we will discuss characters and setting using the anchor chart from my Comprehension Cruisin’ creation.
Each day we will read a fairy tale and create a chart. On the chart we will put the picture of the book, we will list the characters, the setting and then we will list what happened in the beginning, the middle and the end.
The BME will be a simple flow map since we are a Thinking Maps district!
This week we will be doing our hopes and dreams during our writing block!
This is one of my most favorite activities of the year. This plays a big role in my planning for the year because I use what my ‘staches share that they want to learn and I try to incorporate as many of their hopes and dreams as possible into our year! I also love the home school connection made by doing this activity.

This week in math we are working on numbers and counting to 20! More specifically, numbers from 10-20. Looking at our data (THANKS TO ESGI!) I see our weakness is 10-20.
So this week there will be lots of number recognition games and activities.
Lots of counting with ten frames.
Lots of small group work.
This week I also introduce See Count And Graph to the ‘staches!
We do this whole group the first day.
The second and third day is small group.
Then it goes into our math hippopotamuses (centers/workstations)
We are also working on learning our 5 senses this week!
Each day, we will read about a sense. Then we will brainstorm all of the things we can see, hear, touch, taste and feel. We will record those on our big chart!
And we wrap up the week and our five senses learning with Mr. Potato Head and Foodie Fun Friday!
Each ‘stache will get to create their own Mr. Potato Head! No patterns. Just simple directions and they create a masterpiece! We will label each of the senses.
And then we get to do a taste test!
This taste is from Primary Press and it’s so much fun! I’ve done it for 2 or 3 years now and every year it’s a hoot!
The ‘staches taste a lemon, pretzel, bitter chocolate and M and Ms to get sweet, salty, sour and bitter. Then they graph their favorite!
The bitter chocolate is the best!!!!!!!!! They think it’s chocolate but BAM! It ain’t!
AND we’re kicking off MAD SCIENCE FRIDAY! It’s Glittery Fairy Tale Science!
A little jello…a little baking soda….vinegar and a WHOLE LOTTA GLITTER!!
Click the fairy tale science pictures to see my post about this messy experiment and get directions on how we did it!
And that is our week!!!!!
And for your printing and laminating pleasure, some freebies!
This is a simple letter recognition freebie. I made this for my sensory bin. But it makes a great center or small group activity! Click for your freebie!
Here is a fun three little pigs poem that’s great for fairy tale week!
And a fairy tale emergent reader!
Here are the resources we’ll be using this week:
I am also linking up with my friend Deedee at Mrs. Wills Kindergarten for her Peek At My Week linky! Head over there for even more great ideas for your week!
