On our second day of introducing hippopotamuses, we do a mini lesson on using ZipLoc bags because all of our hippopotamuses are kept in ZipLoc bags. We also review our rules and procedures for hippopotamuses. You’ll also see the students working in their hippopotamuses/centers.

Oh, how i wish my district could see how you operate. They are wanting all teachers to do “centers” the same way. You have inspired me to step outside the box and I'm hoping I can stand up for my ways.

more questions…. do you use the same tubs for math and literacy? when will you start pulling groups? (like how long do you practice with you walking around checking)
When do you introduce centers after first day of school?
Week 2
At what point in the year do you introduce centers?
Nevermind, I just saw the comment I needed 🙂
Great!
several questions here
1. For your lesson plan: Do you make up 8 hippopotamus activities for every week and then they are duplicated within each color? Do the students ever work together while in centers, such as with a partner or with 3-4 in a group?
2. I saw on one of your pictures or videos, that the ABC bootcamp anchor charts were hanging from a string beneath the ceiling. How do you get by with that from your fire marshall?
Checkout this blog post for your questions on centers: https://thekindergartensmorgasboard.com/2015/09/kindergarten-smorgasboard-how-i-run-my.html. As for fire marshall, just never had an issue. Of course, that is different for everyone so what applies in my classroom might not work in your district, so you might have to modify. We have some other ideas for anchor charts in this blog post: https://thekindergartensmorgasboard.com/2017/07/anchor-charts.html.
