Schedulin Sunday: Camping And Subtraction Bootcamp

Happy Schedulin Sunday! This week we are going camping! We’re using our Camping Research Project to learn all about camping! We’re subtracting with Subtraction Bootcamp, we’re meeting the KING OF ING, and we’re having our first ever GLOW DAY!

Lesson Plans: Camping, Subtraction, and ING Words

As always, you can download our weekly lesson plans here!

You can grab our editable lesson plan templates here:

Research Projects: Camping Research Project

This week we are going camping! We are using our newly updated Camping Research Project! We will learn about camping and campers, we learn how to make s’mores and we use labeling to learn camping vocabulary.

We make a campfire using our hands and we make a fun s’mores art project!

And yes we decorate our room to set the stage for going camping! Unfortunately, students can’t use the tent and chair this year, so we set the decorations in the hallway for all students to see and enjoy. We’re also using the decorations to build background knowledge!

Here are the camping books we’re using for our Camping Research Project:

ING Words: The King Of Ing

This week in honor of our Backwards Bootcamp K for king day, we’re learning ING words with The King Of Ing!

We will create a circle chart of ING words, we will build ING words, we will write ING words and read ING words. This is very similar to our Vowel Teams Bootcamps.

Math: Subtraction Bootcamp

This week in math, we are practicing addition with Subtraction Bootcamp!

Just like all of our TKS BOOTCAMP, we use a circle chart for Subtraction Bootcamp. The idea of Subtraction Bootcamp is to build fluency and build independence in solving equations. In typical years, we placed equations in the pocket chart, students found the equations that went on the chart. This year, I will show them equations, we will solve them on our whiteboards and add the correct ones to the circle chart. This eliminates the shared objects.

Students can then practice on their own with our differentiated independent practice activities:

Foodie Fun Friday

This week our Foodie Fun Friday snack is s’mores! We use marshmallow creme, chocolate, and graham crackers so there’s no need to cook anything!

BACKWARDS BOOTCAMP!

This week we continue our Backwards Bootcamp! We do Backwards Bootcamp to celebrate our year together, to keep the kids engaged, and because we start the year with ABC BOOTCAMP! Our year begins and ends with ABC BOOTCAMP!

This week:

K=for kings!

J=for jeans!

I-for ice cream!

H for hats!

G for glow day and glitter bombs!

This will be our first glow day! Here’s what I have planned:

Glow sounds and letters-students write letters on paper with highlighters

Glow sight words-students will read glowing words and write the words using their hilighters.

Glow word work-I will say a word, they will write the word using their highlighters

Glow math-using neon cups we will add and subtract and write equations with hilighters

Glow 100-write to 100 using highlighters

And G is for GLITTER BOMBS. We are famous for our glitter bomb days!

This week we are using these TKS Creations:

FREEBIES!
