TKS BOOTCAMP: Vowel Bootcamp And Vowels
This week we are continuing our Vowel Bootcamp! This week we’re focusing on long U and CVC-E words as we are learning about vowels! As with all of our TKS BOOTCAMPs we start with a circle map. Then we move to word building, then word writing and then we do a word match. Our decodable readers are incorporated in small groups throughout the week!

Seasons Research Project: Animals Adaptations
In keeping with our district’s scope and sequence, we’re continuing with our new Seasons Research Project! We will be focusing on how people, animals and plants adapt and change with the seasons. This is a new research project for us and it’s been going so well. Last week we focused on plants and had great discussions and great writing about plants in different seasons. This week our focus is on animal adaptations and how animals adapt and change for each season!
We will read a book about animals in each season. We will complete a graphic organizer for each season after having the students turn and talk about the season. The students will then draw and write about how animal adaptations in the seasons.
Here are the books we are reading this week:

Math: Comparing Numbers
In math we are working on comparing numbers. This is a skill we work on daily in our interactive calendar routine so my kids are really good at this. We will be focusing on using the greater than/less than symbols and using larger numbers.
We will be using our Math It Up: Comparing Numbers resource!
This week we are focused on using the < > = symbols to compare numbers. Monday will be whole group using large playing cards. We will “deal” 2 cards and record the number and symbol on the recording sheet. The rest of the week will be small group work with playing cards and dice.
Read It Up: The Day It Rained Hearts
This week we will be using our Read It Up: The Day It Rained Hearts. Our Read It Up creations allow us to really focus on reading comprehension skills with a focus on responding to text in writing and through discussions. These resources also contain a grammar focus. This week our focus will be on main idea and our grammar focus will be on nouns.
